Hoffman’s Application Technician, Craig Perks, recently visited SBC Training to meet their latest cohort of students. During his visit, he delivered a focused session on the role of UK manufacturing in today’s economy and how his work supports client efficiency and profitability.
Craig shared insights with the students on how he introduces his clients to recent developments in cutting tools and clamping technologies – explaining how these innovations help businesses stay competitive, in an evolving industry. He also addressed key industry challenges, including the skills gap, labour shortages, and international competition, and discussed how we tackle these issues at Hoffmann Group UK.
To round off the session, Craig offered career advice based on his own journey from apprentice to Application Technician, providing practical insights for those starting out in the industry.
A big thank you to SKR Dynamics Ltd and Sentinel Manufacturing Ltd for supplying high-quality machined components. These examples gave students a hands-on look at modern manufacturing processes.
It is great to see industry and education working together to support the future of UK manufacturing.
